Quilt Pattern Review: Misty Mountains

I recently finished making this pink-loving baby girl Misty Mountains Quilt. I did baby size which finished at 36″ x 36″.

The pattern for this quilt is called Misty Mountains and it is written by Eliane of @patchworkandpoodles. You can purchase the pattern here.

This quilt is unique in that it is the first one I’ve ever made where I did a mock-up of the exact fabric colors before cutting into the fabric at all!

To do this mock-up design, I used the colors from Art Gallery Fabric’s PURE Solids collection and just played around with colors until I found something I couldn’t NOT make.

While the design is not quite perfect or a to-scale version of the actual quilt pattern, it gave me a good idea as to how the fabrics and colors will play out once in the design.
I really enjoyed the color-picking process – almost as much as I loved sewing this quilt top together! Making this quilt top was so fun and came together really quickly, which is always so fun for someone looking for a quick turn-around kind of project! It’s a really great pattern for beginners too.
I’m super happy with how it turned out and I love it so much I decided to hand quilt it!

Fabrics used are all from Art Gallery Fabrics’ PURE Solids collection.
Color 1: Purple Wine
Color 2: Quartz Pink
Color 3: Lavender Water
Color 4: Very Berry
Color 5: Sweet Macadamia
Color 6: Sweet Pink
Background: Snow

I hope you love this quilt as much as I do! I was so excited about this one that I could hardly put it down. I started & finished the whole thing within a week – with HAND QUILTING!

Piecing the top was super suuuuuper quick, and a ton of fun too! Patchwork & Poodles made a really great pattern that is easy to follow thanks to the awesome diagrams! I sure do love a nice visual.

I knew that my quilting needed to complement the straight lines and geometric shapes of the pattern, so I did this fun wavy quilting by tracing lines from my wavy/scallop quilting ruler. I think it turned out really amazing!
