The Mettler x Homemade Emily Jane Quilt Along
I’m so excited to officially invite you to join the Mettler x Homemade Emily Jane Quilt Along — a start-to-finish quilting series designed to help you feel confident using different thread weights while creating a beautiful, modern quilt you’ll love.
Whether you’re a beginner quilter or have been quilting for years, this quilt along is meant to be approachable, encouraging, and flexible. You can sew at your own pace, jump in late, or simply follow along and learn.

What Is This Quilt Along?
This quilt along is a multi-part tutorial series where we’ll make a quilt together from beginning to end. Each step builds on the last, and each video focuses on a different stage of the quilting process — from piecing to quilting to binding — using Mettler Silk-Finish Cotton thread.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s understanding why different thread weights are used and how they can make quilting easier and more enjoyable.
All tutorial videos will be shared on Instagram and Facebook, and this blog post will serve as the central hub where you can find everything in one place.

The Quilt Pattern
For this quilt along, we’re using the Paradigm Quilt Pattern.
I chose this pattern because:
- It’s beginner friendly & comes together quickly
- The bold one-block design looks beautiful with simple quilting
- It works well for showcasing clean, straight-line quilting
You can purchase the Paradigm Quilt Pattern directly from me and use any fabrics you love. Use code “METTLER” at checkout to get 20% off your Paradigm Quilt Pattern.

Thread Focus: Mettler Silk-Finish Cotton
Throughout the quilt along, we’ll be working with Mettler Silk-Finish Cotton threads, highlighting how different thread weights shine at different stages of the process:
- 60 wt Silk-Finish Cotton – Piecing the quilt top (fine, smooth, and low bulk)
- 40 wt Silk-Finish Cotton – Quilting (strong, visible, and ideal for straight-line quilting)
- 50 wt Silk-Finish Cotton – Binding (durable with a polished finish)
You’ll see exactly how each weight behaves in real quilting scenarios so you can feel more confident choosing thread for your own projects.
Threads can be purchased through your preferred Mettler retailer. Here are a few online options:

The thread colors you’ll see me using throughout this Quilt Along are:
- Starlight Blue (col. 0039)
- Winter Sky (col. 1525)
- Reef Blue (col. 0338)
