Linear Cover Quilt: Cool Blues with RBD Solids
I’m excited to share the cover quilt for my newest pattern: the Linear Quilt. This version showcases a serene palette of Riley Blake Designs solids. The cool blues create a calming, modern aesthetic that highlights the quilt’s bold, block-based design.
About the Linear Quilt Pattern
The Linear Quilt Pattern is a bold, modern design ideal for confident beginners. With a block-based, strip-pieced layout, it’s quick to sew, easy to customize, and great for showcasing solids or prints. The pattern includes three sizes (baby, throw, and bed) and is available as an instant-download PDF. Perfect for anyone looking for a fast, graphic quilt made with straight-line piecing.

Fabrics on this Modern Quilt
For this cover quilt, I selected four solid fabrics from Riley Blake Designs Confetti Cottons:
- Color 1: Dream – a soft, light gray
- Color 2: Colonial Blue – a rich, deep navy
- Color 3: Riley White – a crisp, clean white
- Color 4: Raindrop – a brighter medium blue/green
These fabrics were chosen to create a balanced and harmonious color palette that emphasizes the linear design of the quilt. The subtle tonal variations between the fabrics add depth and interest without overwhelming the senses.

Batting & Quilting on this Quilt
For this throw size Linear Quilt, I used a 100% cotton batting to provide a nice loft and drape without adding too much bulk.
For the quilting, I had it long-armed with a simple loop design. This quilting motif adds texture and dimension while keeping the focus on the quilt’s bold geometric layout. The long arm quilting was done by Buddy at Quilty Pleasures, LLC located here in Orlando. He did it all free motion without a computerized design or pantograph! I was so impressed with how it came together!

Why I Love the Linear Quilt Pattern
One of the things I love about the Linear Quilt is how versatile it is. The pattern’s block-based design makes it approachable for confident beginners, while the strip-piecing technique allows for quick assembly. Whether you choose bold, high-contrast colors or a more subtle, monochromatic palette, the Linear Quilt adapts beautifully to different fabric choices.
