Beaming Sew Along: Make A Modern Star Quilt with me!
Do you want to make a modern star quilt with me? Join the Beaming Sew Along!
From August 29th – October 16th, 2022 I’ll be hosting a Sew Along to make a popular star quilt pattern – the Beaming Quilt Pattern! Each week we will make small bits of progress towards making a completed quilt top!
Of course, there will be PRIZES each week, and I’ll be showing up weekly in emails & videos to discuss the progress and help you along the way. Keep reading to find out all the details.

Beaming Quilt Pattern
The Beaming Quilt Pattern is a modern take on a classic star quilt pattern that is perfect for learning some new quilting techniques! By the end of this sew along, you’ll be able to confidently make Flying Geese and scrappy hourglass quilt blocks. You will also learn tips & tricks for sewing the components into quilt blocks, adding sashing, and adding borders. If you want to join this Sew Along, be sure to grab the Beaming quilt pattern in my shop! (pro tip: you’ll get a coupon code emailed to you when you sign up for the Sew Along!)
I offer both PDF download patterns and printed paper patterns. You can also get a quilt kit too! Check out more details further below!
Beaming Sew Along Schedule
Over the next 6 weeks we will make progress towards a pieced Beaming Quilt top, and on the 7th week I will teach a lesson about how to finish your quilt (for the video class students).
Here’s the breakdown of the schedule. Please note you’re welcome to work ahead or take it at your own pace! The weekly videos will be available for you to watch later on too, for all video class students in the Patreon community.
- Aug. 29 – Sept. 4: Get pattern & fabrics
- Sept. 5 – 11: Cut fabrics (using rotary cutter or AccuQuilt)
- Sept. 12 – 18: Make Flying Geese Units
- Sept. 19 – 25: Make Scrappy Hourglass Units
- Sept. 26 – Oct. 2: Piece Quilt Blocks
- Oct. 3 – 9: Assemble quilt top and add borders
- Bonus: Oct. 10 – 16: Basting, Quilting, and Binding
The quilt comes together super super fast, so you only need to dedicate a short time each week to make your progress. It’s perfect if you’re busy but want some motivation to sew at least a little bit each week.

Beaming Sew Along Sponsors & Prizes
One of my favorite things about Sew Alongs is getting to give away all kinds of awesome prizes!
Each week of the Sew Along will have its own specific prizes. In order to be entered to win for that week, you must have posted a photo showing your Beaming Quilt progress to Instagram using #BeamingSAL, or in the Patreon quilty community. Anyone who posts a photo of their Beaming quilt progress each week will be eligible to win the prizes!

For each week, you must post your photos to Instagram using the hashtag #BeamingSAL, or in the Patreon quilty community to be eligible to win prizes. You may work ahead, just be share to share photos of your progress each week. You may also use #BeamingQuilt, #HomemadeEmilyJane and #HomemadeEmilyJanePatterns if you wish!

Beaming Quilt Class
Each week throughout the Beaming Sew Along I will be creating a video to demonstrate the skills and techniques as part of the Beaming Quilt Class. I’ll show you how to do each step and even provide some of my favorite tips and tricks that I’ve learned throughout my years quilting. You’ll even get the chance to join live Q&A sessions hosted via Zoom where I’ll help out with any areas that you might get stuck.
The Beaming Quilt Class will walk you through every step of making your own Beaming Quilt! Access to the Beaming Quilt Class is available when you join as a VIP Member in my Quilting Community on Patreon. VIP Community Members also receive access to a full resource library of all past Sew Along content, including thorough lessons for making the Stratus Quilt, Paradigm Quilt, and Connector Quilt.

Want to use AccuQuilt?
The Beaming Quilt Pattern includes extra bonus instructions for using an AccuQuilt machine to cut fabric for your quilt. You are welcome to use either traditional cutting or the AccuQuilt machine to cut your Beaming Quilts, and I’ll be here to answer questions about either method.
Not sure if AccuQuilt is right for you? learn more here!
