West Palm // Vacay Vibes Quilt

It’s official: I’ have found the perfect quilt collab recipe:

  • killer fabrics
  • fun quilt pattern
  • staging fun quilt photos

I got this amazing fabric line West Palm by Art Gallery Fabrics and immediately knew I had to use a lot of white background to really let these colors and fabrics shine.

Stars Hallow pattern enters Stage Right.

I used the Stars Hallow quilt pattern  by Suzy Quilts and there were moments I was suddenly SO UNSURE of myself, but as always, these fabrics came through for me and really turned out amazing!

I ended up using Warm & White batting and did some matchstick quilting (straight line quilting) with my walking foot. I spaced them out a bit – 1.5″ apart for each line, so it went super fast! If you do not already have a walking foot, you can read all about why I love mine so much HERE.

Working with these fun and quirky reverse sawtooth stars was really neat. The quilt pattern helps decrease time and makes this a really quick finish even though it is intricate!

This quilt pattern includes sewing squares, half square triangles, and flying geese together to make the classic Sawtooth Star block. A neat sewing trick you should try out is to use a special ruler for squaring up your flying geese and half square triangles. I love using this simple and inexpensive HST Square Up ruler, and I have heard lots of amazing things about Bloc Loc rulers, which come in shapes for half square triangles AND for flying geese.

Overall, this quilt was so much fun to make and I totally adored working with these vibrant pops of color! Don’t you just feel like you are on a beach in Florida when you look at these?!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these bright, vibrant fabrics as much as I did! Now go check out the rest of the AGF West Palm look book for more sewing ideas and to see more of these fabrics in action – I promise, you’ll toooootally feel like you’re in vacation mode right away.

These fabrics can be purchased through many quilt shops, Fat Quarter Shop is one option!

    Hi Emily,
Your star quilt is lovely in West Palm Beach. That collection will get a lot of attention for summer sewing.
I purchased only three half yard pieces to use in a pattern called the Eliza Quilt. The quilt uses
just six fabrics so I pulled the rest from other lines. Hopefully I can begin next week.
    I truly enjoy your blog.
